Top travel journalists and editors visit Limerick

HOLIDAYING in Ireland is becoming increasingly popular with American visitors, and networking events specific to promotion of such travel have taken place over the past week.
A group of top US travel writers and editors has been enjoying a fact-finding visit in Limerick, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
On their business trip to Ireland, the travel professionals spent time in Limerick’s One Pery Square hotel and also visited King John’s Castle, Adare village, and had lunch in the Dunraven Arms Hotel.
The conference, called Travel Classics International writers’ event, brought together travel editors from a wide range of high-profile publications such as magazines Condé Nast (CN) Traveler and the National Geographic Traveler, which collectively reach hundreds of thousands of readers across North America.
Describing the visit a “fantastic opportunity” to showcase Ireland as a “unique destination”, Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “We were delighted that these influential writers and editors were able to stay on after the Travel Classics International conference to visit Limerick – helping us to spread the good news about this part of Ireland through the media in the US.
“With some of the most influential and prominent American travel and lifestyle editors and writers participating in this trip, it will bring huge exposure about what Limerick has to offer American holidaymakers.”
The United States remains an extremely important market for tourism to the island of Ireland. In 2019, we welcomed 1.7 million American visitors, whose visits delivered €1.6 billion for the economy.
