Gathering to show solidarity with all those who have been affected by the lives lost

THE PEOPLE of Charleville, led by the Charleville Community Forum, are calling for the M20 and Charleville relief road to be prioritised by Government.

This Thursday, May 16, there will be a gathering in the town plaza in Charleville, to show solidarity with all those who have been affected by the lives lost on the N20.

In April and May of last year, in two separate incidents, Pat Galvin and Margaret Lyons died on the town's main street and both incidents involved a HGV.

Data from the forum shows that 7,000 HGVs go through Charleville every day and they want a relief road to reduce that number.

Claire Scanlan of Charleville Community Forum said: “It's time to stop the carnage on the N20. Road traffic accidents leave behind shattered families and shattered communities.

“Life can change in a split second, no one sets out on their journey to be involved in traffic collisions.”

Organisers say Thursday will be a show of solidarity with bereaved families, the community and first responders on these tragic scenes.
