Tributes paid to Limerick man killed in collision

TRIBUTES have been paid to a Limerick man who lost his life following a traffic collision in Nenagh.
Cathal (Gearóid) Hensman, 34, from Clarina was struck by a car and died from his injuries.
It’s understood he was out walking a white greyhound for a family friend along the R445 Old Dublin Road in Lisbunny near Nenagh. The dog also died.
His heartbroken parents Jane and Trevor were coming to terms with the tragic loss of their son over the weekend.
Local priest Fr Michael Cussen, who visited the family, confirmed prayers were said at Masses across the parish.
“I would have known the family. The whole community is very saddened by what has happened, and we are praying for them,” he said.
Many more people have taken time out to pay tribute to Cathal on www.rip.ie, which published details of his funeral, taking place this Thursday morning at St Joseph’s Church in Ballybrown.
A classmate of Cathal’s at St Clement’s College in the city wrote: “A name that often is mentioned fondly when I bump into the lads from our year. Was always a gentleman. Devastated to hear the news.”
Another added: “It's hard to think of a childhood memory without Cathal in it. My sincerest condolences to Hensman family. Cathal will be remembered.”
A third message read: “Sincere condolences to Trevor Jenny and family on the very sad and untimely passing of Cathal. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.”
As well as his parents, Cathal is survived by his siblings Colm, Niamh, Aisling and Róisín.
He is sadly missed by his loving nephews Christopher, Alexander, Henry, Nicholas and Jonathan, nieces Hazel and Evelyn, brothers-in-law Owen, David and James, Colm’s partner Tamara, uncle, aunts, extended family and friends.
He will repose at St Joseph's Church in Ballybrown this Wednesday, August 9, from 4.30pm.
His requiem Mass will take place the following day at 11:30am and will be live-streamed on the internet.
Following the funeral, he will be laid to rest in Kilkeedy Cemetery in Clarina.
May he rest in peace.
