University of Limerick launches new business masters programme

UNIVERSITY of Limerick (UL) has launched a new masters programme for business professionals in-work.
The college has launched what it's described as a “one of a kind” scheme for “working professionals who want to take their careers to the next level and gain the skills, knowledge and qualifications needed to progress in their chosen field.
The part-time Master of Professional Practice which combines three diplomas stacked over five years across all faculties.
Professionals can stack programmes from other educational institutions, not just UL, across disciplines of interest and value, from AI, data analytics and cybersecurity to strategic leadership and human resource management to communications and law and technology.
Professor Ann Ledwith, project lead said: “Professionals should see upskilling as a necessity if they want to pivot in their careers. Changing career can be daunting if you’re going off in a new direction but gone are the days where a job was a job for life.”
The new masters programme is unique to this country as it allows working professionals to build an award which aligns with the skills they need to develop their careers.
General manager of WrkWork Hannah Wrixon recently upskilled after undertaking a UL programme.
She said: “It greatly helped me to improve my leadership skills. I can now identify those early leaders who, with a bit of nurturing, can make a huge difference to the company. I now also have access to a network of like-minded executives through this programme who I can reach out to whenever I have a leadership question.”
