Video shows man catching fire during suspected petrol bomb attack on Limerick home

Gardaí and three fire units attended the scene of a house fire in Garryowen
A VIDEO showing a suspected petrol bomb attack on a house in Garryowen has been widely shared on social media.
Gardaí and fire services confirmed they attended the scene of a house fire in Pike Avenue on Sunday, September 22 at approximately 9:50pm.
Since then, a video of the alleged incident has been shared multiple times online. The recording, taken from inside the back of the car carrying the alleged assailants, shows them driving towards the house, pulling up and getting out.
One of the individuals is seen carrying a canister of suspected flammable liquid towards the house. Another hooded individual is shown smashing in the window of the front room.
Following activity at the front door of the house, the area bursts into huge flames. One of two men situated at the front door flees the scene immediately while the second individual is overcome by flames and momentarily falls to his knees in an effort to smother the flames on his body. He proceeds to get up and run to the car with flames at his feet and hands.
The footage - all taken from inside the car - then shows the car driving away.
Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 30s was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is not known if this is the individual who fell to his knees at the door in the footage.
Three Limerick Fire and Rescue units tackled the blaze for three hours, departing just after midnight.
Gardaí are investigating the incident, saying that “the scene has been preserved and a technical examination will take place”.
