Watercolour gems with Limerick artist Eva set for first exhibition

Display from French-born painter to be launched by ex-Labour TD Jan O'Sullivan
AN EXHIBITION of watercolour paintings goes on display in Limerick next week.
Eva Coombes, who lives in Castletroy, is exhibiting some of her finest pieces at the county library, next to Crescent Shopping Centre in Dooradoyle.
It gets under way on Tuesday, March 18, and will close on Friday, April 11.
The display is open the same hours as the library - 10am to 5pm on Monday to Saturday, save for Thursdays and Fridays when it will be available between 10am and 8pm.
The official opening of the exhibition will be performed by former Labour TD Jan O’Sullivan from 6pm on Friday, March 21.
Eva, who hails from France, began painting using watercolours a decade ago deciding to take up something new in her retirement.
“I was volunteering at Failte Isteach, giving English conversation classes to migrants,” she said as she picked up the story.
“The rector of Christchurch, Vicky Lynch, who hosted the classes, wanted to offer our students some art classes and to encourage them to attend, offered us tutors free art classes on premises which were already familiar,” added Eva.
It was well-known Limerick artist Paul Quane whom she learnt the ropes from.
“I know I am not doing it right, but I derive great pleasure in finding expression through my brush,” she laughed. All are welcome to the launch - and paintings will be on sale throughout the exhibition.
