Almost €2,000,000 funding announced for Tipperary for local improvement

Deputy Michael Lowry has welcomed the announcement
Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry has welcomed a major funding allocation of €1,818,979 for County Tipperary under the 2025 Local Improvement Scheme, announced today by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
This funding will support the upgrade of non-public rural roads and laneways that are vital for local residents, farmers, and communities across Tipperary.
These roads often provide access to agricultural lands, family homes, and important local amenities such as lakes, mountains, piers, and graveyards.
“This is a significant and very welcome investment in Tipperary’s rural infrastructure,” said Deputy Lowry.
“Many of these roads are in daily use by farm families and rural dwellers but have long gone without proper maintenance. This scheme directly addresses that need, and I’m proud to have secured nearly €1.82 million to support local communities in every corner of the county.”
The announcement forms part of a national €30.55 million LIS package for 2025- the largest annual allocation since the scheme was reintroduced in 2017.
The total investment in LIS projects since then now stands at almost €184 million.
“As work begins on shaping the next National Development Plan, I will continue to push for strong, ongoing investment in rural transport infrastructure,” Deputy Lowry added.
“Improving rural connectivity and supporting balanced regional development will remain a top priority for me.”
The Local Improvement Scheme has proven essential for upgrading rural laneways that fall outside the remit of public maintenance but serve a critical role in supporting rural life and enterprise.
