Borrisoleigh school take science trip to the University of Limerick

By Sam Roche

Last Thursday, students from St Joseph’s College travelled to the University of Limerick to attend Prof. Caitriona Jackman’s engaging lecture about space and our solar system.

Professor Jackman talked about exploration and told us about the struggle to find out how long a day truly was on Jupiter, which I found interesting.

I had never thought about how they would calculate a day on a gas giant full of moving clouds. Another thing I had never realized was how long space missions took.

The mission that the Professor worked on took 40 years to go from the initial idea to reality. I would recommend this talk to other TY groups.
