BREAKING: Major update on inner relief road in Tipperary for town crippled with traffic

The completion of the purchase is a significant step forward in tackling the issue of traffic in our town.
Councillor Micheal Lowry has confirmed that the conveyancing process has been completed and Tipperary County Council now has the title to all the land required to progress the Inner Relief Road Project.
The Inner Relief Road will provide a link between the N62 and the Mill Road.
The scheme comprises approximately 1.1km of new road with: a signalised junction on the Slievenamon Road at the Clongour Road junction (already completed); a new priority junction with Mill Road, five intermediate priority junctions to provide access and a 50-metre span tied bowstring arch crossing of the River Suir as well as associated public lighting.
"Whilst significant time has passed since I announced a deal had been reached to purchase the land, it must be acknowledged that the completion of the purchase is a significant step forward in tackling the issue of traffic in our town.
"Traffic Modelling for the Thurles Local Area Plan suggests that a second bridge crossing will reduce traffic in the heavily congested town centre by 15%," says Cllr Lowry.
The purchased land will also facilitate the construction of a footpath extension along Mill Road, which will be incorporated into a safe walking route for the town.
Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry has received a commitment on the project from the Government and approval has been sought to advance to detailed design and construction.
