Thanks to Cara’s tireless 50-hour protest outside Leinster House, she has now been invited to be the very first witness to give evidence to the Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters.

Tipperary teenager Cara Darmody has been invited by the government to give evidence to an Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters.

Thanks to Cara’s tireless 50-hour protest outside Leinster House, she has now been invited to be the very first witness to give evidence to the Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters.

This Oireachtas Committee discusses all disability matters including monitoring Ireland’s implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. The committee is made up of nine TD’s, including Independent TD for Tipperary South Seamus Healy, and five senators.

Cara will attend the Oireachtas meeting on June 11, where she will outline the ways in which the government is consistently breaking the law when it comes to children with disabilities.

In a social media post made online Cara said: "So the first witness to give evidence to the Oireachtas Committee on Disabilty Matters will be..... drumroll!!!....... ME!!!, on Wednesday June the 11 at 9.30am!!

"I can promise right here and right now that it's going to be a pretty dramatic show!! I'm officially calling it "The Fight of the Century"!!! For those 15,000+ children that the Government has left rotting on Assessments of Needs waiting lists, this may well be the most important conversation since God talked to Moses!! Let's get ready to rumble!!"
