Calls for CCTV in this Tipperary town amid 'ongoing' anti-social behaviour issues

Fine Gael councillor Declan Burgess called for the implementation of a CCTV system for Cashel
There have been calls for a CCTV system for a busy Tipperary town by a local councillor amid "ongoing" animal welfare issues and anti-social behaviour.
The call came from Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council and Fine Gael councillor Declan Burgess, who called for the implementation of a CCTV system for Cashel.
The local councillor said that a CCTV scheme is needed to tackle issues of anti-social behaviour within the town.
"I have contacted the Director of Services to reiterate my ongoing request for the implementation of a CCTV system in Cashel. I believe it is crucial to have a prompt and effective solution in place for the Wallers Lot area," Cllr Burgess said.
"The current Tipperary roll out of CCTV in 2025 that has received Garda Commissioner authorisation is Littleton and Borrisokane in 2025," he added.
A new CCTV policy was adopted by Tipperary County Council in January 2024, Cllr Burgess added.
"I have made numerous requests for a scheme in Cashel to tackle ongoing animal welfare issues and anti social behaviour incidents in the area. I am glad Cashel was proposed during the budget negotiations, as this is heading in the right direction.
"I supported passing the council budget that is now building a fund to deliver these county wide CCTV schemes and will proactively work towards delivering these much needed services, particularly for towns like Cashel," Cllr Burgess added.
