Carrick Swan GAA Club honoured its juvenile players for their commitment to training and matches over the past season at medals presentation ceremonies at its Juvenile Hall last week.

The first ceremony was dedicated to the Club’s 60 youngest Under 7 players, dubbed the Cygnets, and took place on Tuesday, November 12.

Juvenile Chairman Seán McDonnell welcomed all parents, guardians, grandparents and the young players and paid a special tribute to the Cygnets on receiving their first Carrick Swan Club medal.

He thanked the Club’s Juvenile Committee and the coaches who volunteer their time to train the children.

“We had three coaches for the Cygnets in February and now we have 10. Everyone has improved so much and give it their all every week and are enjoying it,” he said.

Mr O’Donnell spoke of the great advantage of having the astro-turf pitch and target wall in the club grounds.

These facilities were a safe place for the Under 7s to build up their skills and confidence as the parents looked on.

“The parents/guardians are the driving force behind the children, thank you for bringing them to training and matches,” he added.

Swan Premier Intermediate hurlers Jack Murphy, Scott Hogan and Callum Lanigan presented the medals to the Under 7 players along with a goodie bag, kindly sponsored by John and Rachel Flynn who have three daughters playing for Swan juvenile teams.

The following evening, November 13, the Under 8 and Under 10 girls along with the Under 9 and Under 11 boys were presented with medals by Carrick Swan Club inter-county stars, hurler Stefan Tobin and camogie player Emma O’Halloran.

Juvenile Chairman Seán McDonnell again praised all the young players and their coaches, parents and guardians.

He thanked everyone for their continued loyal support of the Swan Club Lotto and 12 Days of Christmas Draw, which are facilitating wonderful developments in the Club.
