Check out these Heritage Week events at Tipperary Studies

Starting Tuesday, August 20
Tipperary Studies invites you to join with us as we celebrate Heritage Week.
On Tuesday, August 20, John Phayer explores domestic and industrial turf cutting in east Limerick and north Tipperary.
Delve into the rich history of turf cutting in our region, exploring traditional methods, tools, and the unique language associated with this practice.
He’ll also touch on local bog slips and their lasting effects and the fascinating history of the Briquette Factory near Littleton, including the discovery of a Bronze Age sword in the region.

On Wednesday 21st join Barry O’Reilly from the NIAH on a guided heritage walk through the town’s historic streetscapes.
Discover the hidden gems of Thurles! From the stunning cathedral to charming everyday buildings. Each one tells a story of the town’s rich history and the craftsmanship of its builders, masons, plasterers, and more.
Join us for a unique walk that will reveal the secrets of Thurles' town centre and leave you with a new appreciation for its heritage!
Both events are at 7pm. Hope to see you there. Contact Tipperary Studies 052 6166123 or email [email protected] for further details.
