CRITICAL Carrick-on-Suir Community First Responders Group members will have a fundraising bucket collection in Carrick this Friday and Saturday.

All funds raised will go directly towards supporting the work of the group locally, as well as the fantastic, life-saving work carried out by CRITICAL Community First Response groups across the country.

“We would greatly appreciate the support of the public over the two days,” said group spokesman Adam Hunt.

“We would also like to sincerely thank all local businesses and premises owners for their continued support and for kindly facilitating collections at their locations.”

In other news, Carrick Community First Responder group member Gerry Fitzgerald was interviewed on Newstalk's Claire Byrne Show last week where he spoke about his firsthand experience of what Community First Responders groups do.

Gerry suffered a cardiac event some time ago and was responded to by members of the Carrict CFR group within just four minutes from the time of call.

His story highlights the real and immediate impact of CFR volunteers within their communities.

Over the coming weeks, the group hopes to engage further with local media, press, newspapers and radio across Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny to continue raising awareness of the vital role Community First Responders play.
