Council CEO invited to attend meeting regarding unauthorised developments in Tipperary

Tipperary TD Michael Murphy has shared a letter he sent to Tipperary County Council CEO Sinead Carr, requesting her attendance at a recent public representatives meeting regarding unauthorised developments in Tipperary.
Public representatives held a meeting yesterday where they discussed their ongoing concerns regarding an unauthorised development in Giantsgrave, Clonmel.
In a letter to Tipperary County Council CEO Sinead Carr sent on Sunday evening, TD Michael Murphy has shared what he asked of the CEO prior to the meeting on Monday.
"I am writing to respectfully request that you personally attend tomorrow’s meeting scheduled for 2:00 p.m. with public representatives and representatives of the townland of Giantsgrave.
"Your presence at this meeting is of vital importance given the serious and ongoing concerns within the community regarding the unauthorised development taking place at Giantsgrave.
"Earlier this week, I corresponded with you urging the Council to initiate immediate High Court proceedings under Section 160 of the Planning and Development Act 2000. This follows the clear and blatant breach of planning laws at the site in question. I must reiterate the urgent need for decisive and immediate action from the Council in response.
"Having both attended a public meeting on Friday night and as a resident of the parish myself, I am deeply aware of the anger, anxiety, and fear that this situation has generated. The people of Giantsgrave are justifiably outraged by what appears to be a flagrant disregard for the law and for their rights as citizens and neighbours.
"My own genuine concern is that any delay in enforcement will only serve to encourage further unauthorised development, further undermining the integrity of the planning system and public confidence in the Council’s capacity to protect their interests.
"It is absolutely essential that Tipperary County Council demonstrates a zero-tolerance approach to this issue. The pursuit of an immediate High Court injunction is, in my view, the very minimum action necessary to halt ongoing breaches and begin the process of restoring the site to its original and lawful state. This is what the community of Giantsgrave deserves—and expects.
"Your attendance at tomorrow’s meeting would not only show leadership and solidarity with the people of the parish but would also reaffirm the Council’s commitment to upholding the law and protecting our communities.
"Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I sincerely hope you will give this request the consideration it deserves and join us tomorrow."
Ms Carr did not attend the meeting on Monday, although planning officials from the department were in attendance.
