Cllr Jim Ryan said that the funding is long-awaited to help with reopening the Thurles skateboard park.

Tipperary County Council have received €50000 in funding from the Government's Community Recognition funding scheme.

A local councillor has said that the funding is long-awaited to help with reopening the Thurles skateboard park.

In a post made on social media, Cllr Jim Ryan said: "This now means the district council in Thurles can seek internal funding to appoint a contractor to carry out the necessary works to reopen the park.

"Hopefully this internal funding will become available later this year so we can have the park open over the next few months."

The skateboard park has been closed since 2023 to facilitate repair works.

Cllr Jim Ryan has continuously called for more to be done to get it back open to the public.
