Councillor says walking on Carrick-on-Suir quay is like 'playing hopscotch' due to dog poo problem

Walking on the footpath along Carrick-on-Suir's quay was like “playing hopscotch” due to the amount of dog poo deposited on it, an exasperated councillor complained at Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District's last monthly meeting.
Sinn Féin Cllr David Dunne declared that dog owners who failed to collect their pet's droppings when out for a walk should be ashamed of themselves.
The Carrick-on-Suir councillor requested the council to spray paint warnings to dog owners to dispose of their pooch's faeces on the footpaths along Carrick's quays and other popular dog walking areas of the town.
District Engineer Denis Power gave a commitment to do this.
“Hopefully it will contribute to solving the problem,” he said.
