DIARY DATE: Citizen science project investigating invasive species on the Suir

placeholder image

Any interest?

Can you help Suircan Environmental map the presence of the invasive plant species Giant Hogweed, Himalayan Balsam and Japanese Knotweed along the River Suir and its tributaries during Summer 2023?

These invasive plants have no natural competitors, they negatively affect the native biodiversity and make the riverbank more susceptible to erosion.

Volunteer as much or as little of your time as you can manage. Full Citizen Science training is provided in plant identification, mapping, recording and biosecurity.

Join us at the project launch to find out more.

Hear our guest speaker Minister Malcom Noonan discuss the new Invasive Species Legislation, learn how to get involved with our Trinity College Dublin partner project to age water using isotopes and chat with members of Suircan.

Tea and coffee will be supplied.

Who can apply: Anybody with an interest in the

biodiversity of the River Suir

Where: Fitzgibbon Room, Anner Hotel, Thurles

When: 12pm Saturday, June 10, 2023
