'Envy' at Macroom as 'desperate' Tipperary Town tailbacks continue

A Tipperary Town councillor has said she looked on with envy at television pictures of the new Macroom bypass being opened.
Cllr Annemarie Ryan told a Tipperary County Council meeting that she wished it had been her town getting the bypass.
“Even on a recent Sunday there were tailbacks going through the town. It was desperate,” she said.
Cllr Ryan also raised the issue of speeding on the Bansha Road approach to the town. “This is a very straight stretch of road and we have a major problem with traffic speeding. A lot of children also use this for crossing and it is very dangerous”, she added.
Director of Services, Marcus O’Connor, told her that the matter had been raised with Transport Infrastructure Ireland but no commitment had been given on action to be taken.
