The Tipperary People and Places series returns October 15, 2024
Tipperary People and Places Lecture Series returns to The Source, Thurles for its eighteenth series on Tuesday, October 15 at 7pm.
The series, which runs on the third Tuesday of each month until March 2025 has some excellent speakers with fascinating diverse subjects ranging from Brian Hughes on the final days of the Royal Irish Constabulary; Lisa McGeeney on Public Health and the Poor Laws; Dr David Fleming on Mass Rocks; Dr Michael Earley on Stained Glass Windows and Dr Martin Walsh on the Irish Girls’ Friendly Society who assisted girls as they emigrated.
The speaker on October 15 is Margaret O’Sullivan, PhD researcher at Mary Immaculate College and chair of the County Tipperary Historical Society.

From his land agency office in Cahir, Rochfort managed several estates both inside and outside county Tipperary.
Using extensive estate records, Margaret examines Rochefort’s long career and looks at his reputation which ranges from that of an enemy of the people to that of a faithful and honest servant.
Join us in The Source on Tuesday, October 15 at 7pm.
