Fantastic festivals coming to Tipperary this summer are a must for music lovers

Last year, Thurles was the place to be for festivals. Whether you wanted a dancefloor or an event to entertain the kids, there was a brightly decorated field for you. And it looks like 2024 will be no different.
We are only two weeks into May, and unlike the sun, details of this year’s line-up are starting to emerge.
Here is what we know so far.
Fair on the Square
Thurles is to host a brand new festival this year, according to Councillor Jim Ryan. Fair on the Square is to take place on Friday, July 5 between 4pm and 11pm, the Councillor said on social media.
No other details are available yet, but we love a good mystery.
Liberty Music Festival
One of the country’s top tribute act festivals will take place on July 6 and 7 in Thurles Town Park.
The last two years of the Liberty Music Festival have drawn in thousands of people to the town.
Now in its third year, the festival promises to put on a spectacular show for all ages. Some of the 2023 favourites, Queen (Queen), Complete Madness (Madness) and Waterloo (Abba) are set to return.
Also playing are Slippery When Wet (Bon Jovi), Supersonic (Oasis), Heroes from Mars (Bowie) and many more.
Weekend tickets are €27.50 and are available from tickets.ie.
Cut Loose Country Festival
The 11th Cut Loose Country Festival is set for Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Holycross Ballycahill GAA club. The much-anticipated line-up includes Derek Ryan, Michael English, Louise Morrissey, Stacey Breen, Claudia Buckley, David James, The Conks, Ceol and Muriel & Fran.
Tickets are €30 and available from tickets.ie.
Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan
Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan will come to Thurles on July 15-21. The festival’s official opening will be at The Source Arts Centre with a performance by the Brú Ború Performing Group at 7pm on Tuesday, July 16. Tickets are available from The Source.
Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan Dancing competitions are to take place on Wednesday and Thursday and music, singing, comhrá and storytelling competitions are on Friday and Saturday.
There will be no competitions on Sunday, July 21, so as not to clash with the All-Ireland Hurling Final. More information is available at www.munsterfleadh.ie.
Hoolie in the Hills
Upperchurch’s Hoolie in the Hills 2024 has been announced for Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4. That is all we know so far, but organisers have promised more details soon. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Instagram for more announcements.
