Find out about Carrick-on-Suir's bat colonies and herbs on fascinating walks with experts

The upcoming walks are being organised by Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club for the town's Clancy Brothers Music & Arts Festival

Carrick-on-Suir & District Lions Club will host two interesting Wild About Carrick events - a night-time bat walk and a herbs walk – at the end of this month.

The walks for nature lovers will be part of the Clancy Brothers Music & Arts Festival's programme of outdoor community events.

Bat experts Albert and Harry Nolan will lead the Wild About Carrick Bat Walk that starts from the standing stones at Sean Healy Park on the Clonmel Road at 10pm on Thursday, May 28.

During the walk of between 60 and 90 minutes, the two experts will locate local bat colonies and talk about them.

People taking part in the walk are advised to wear hi-vis vests going to and from the walk. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Local herbalist Saffron Wells will lead the Wild About Carrick Herbs Walk around Ormond Castle on Saturday, May 30 at 11am.
