An information day advising businesses about how to avoid becoming the victim of online fraud took place at the Bank of Ireland branch in Carrick-on-Suir on Thursday, April 25.

The Fraud Smart Information Day was hosted by Bank of Ireland with the assistance of An Garda Síochána.

Tipperary/Clare Garda Division Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant John McCormack and Garda Andrew Kiely were joined by members of Bank of Ireland’s Fraud Team in giving a fraud awareness presentation to the bank’s business customers.

“The presentation was to ensure customers were made more aware and conscious of the pitfalls and risks of using online websites/banking when conducting their business,” said a Garda spokesman.
