First Year Girls Soccer won the County Title Congratulations to our first year girls soccer squad, who won their final on Tuesday the May 16, to take home the Shannonside League Title. The path to the final was a journey, with the girls playing teams including Mungret and Askeaton, leaving triumphant at each leg to top their table to earn their place in today’s final. The stage was set for a thriller against St Mary’s Charleville, our CEIST neighbours, who also topped their league. It was a thrilling game from start to finish which could have gone either way. A goal from Fia White-Linnane after 10 minutes proved to be the difference between the sides. The game was end to end, with both teams having chances. Charleville hit the crossbar ,while later, Ellen Hackett’s shot skimmed wide of the goal. The girls dug deep and fought with everything as each minute passed. We are so proud of each and every member of the squad. For displaying great commitment to the team by turning up to training, but also for working together as a unit to carve out this victory. Their resilience and teamwork today was a testament to their love for the game! Thank you to our TY students, who came to matches as helpers; no task was too big or too small for you to complete. We wouldn’t have accomplished what we did without you! A special mention to each student’s parents, guardians and soccer club, who made their victory possible. At each game, our girls’ showed compassion, respect and an appreciation for their opponents, ensuring they thanked everyone each game, from referees to bus drivers. This level of respect is something they learned from the core people in their life. Ms.Conway and Ms. Quinn commend the girls for their kindness and attentiveness for each opponent and always being gracious in victory.

Junior Girls Soccer We are capping off our week of triumph with another victory. Congratulations to our Junior girls soccer squad, who won their final in a hotly contested match to be crowned champions. The path to Friday's final was a journey, with the girls hosting teams through the county to top their table to earn their place in the final. ArdScoil Mhuire Corbally opened the scoring and went 2-0 up after 20 mins. Our girls pulled one back before half time with a great strike from Emma Sweeney. Ard Scoil Mhuire scored early in the second half to take the lead 3-1. Our girls were phenomenal! Their desire, teamwork and resilience saved them to claw it back to 3-2 with a goal from Jayne Ryan, and shortly after Ellen Hackett got a screamer of a free kick from 25 yards to make it 3-3, it was a fight to the finish. Captain, Aoibhinn McNamara, won every kick out from the opponents in the second half. We had plenty of chances and were unlucky not to score. In injury time, Abi O Mahoney hit the post with a header. The game was looking like extra time. Then Jayne Ryan buried one in the bottom corner from the edge of the box. 4-3. Ard Scoil took the ball up the field and let fly from 30 yards. We still don’t know how Chloe Ryan, our keeper, saved it. This truly was a team effort - every player gave it their all, and their never give up attitude was on full display. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who came to show their support to their team. Thanks to coaches Ms. Conway and Ms Quinn.
