Footpaths in need of upgrading in Tipperary village says councillor
Councillor Andy Moloney included the motion in this weeks Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel council meeting for the upgrading of footpaths in Ballyporeen
Councillor Andy Moloney has called for the council to assess the footpaths on Main Street in Ballyporeen and upgrade where necessary.
The councillor said at the meeting "I was under the understanding that when we did up the plans for traffic calming in Ballyporeen, in the Main Street, that footpaths there were all part of the plan. They didn't seem to be done."
Councillor Maloney asked the chamber if money was ever allocated for these footpaths and was it instead spent on doing up the road.
Councillor Máirín McGrath seconded the motion at today's meeting saying: "I'm happy to second the motion. It's an issue where I've spoken to the district engineer many times and we do need a big job to be done on upper Main Street."
Councillor Marie Murphy agreed with both saying it was an issue brought up a lot in the past.
The motion was subsequently passed by the chamber.
