The former head of Tipperary Co-Op has been appointed to a new role that will see him help to harness the collective buying power of its member co-operatives and independent merchants.
Tom Moher is the former Head of Agribusiness at Tipperary Co-Op, and has now been appointed as the general manager of Associated Trading Co-operatives (ATC).
ATC is purchasing and supply group of 36 Agri-Trading Co-operatives and Independent Merchants across Ireland.
From Mitchelstown, County Cork, Mr Moher’s career spans over 30 years in the co-operative sector.
He is the former Head of Agribusiness at Tipperary Co-Op, prior to which he held senior roles in Dairygold Co-op Superstores including Group Sales Development Manager for Retail DIY.
The Associated Trading Co-operative Group specialises in the buying of agricultural products and farm inputs, many of which are sold to farmers under the “Co-op Source” and “AgriChoice” brand through its trading members.
Reacting to his new appointment, Mr Moher said that he looks forward to driving progress and working with ATC members.
"I look forward to driving further progress and working with each of our co-operative and independent members to achieve continuing, sustainable success. ATC has a long-standing reputation for delivering value to its members through strategic purchasing and strong, mutually beneficial partnerships.
"In today’s evolving agricultural landscape, collaboration and efficiency are more important than ever. I look forward to working closely with our members and suppliers to continue strengthening our collective buying power, ensuring quality, value and choice for the farming community," Mr Moher said.
ATC Chairman Pat Sheahan said: “I warmly welcome Tom Moher as General manager and express our appreciation to former general manager John Heaphy for his excellent service and contribution. Associated Trading Co-operative is a member-owned organisation dedicated to delivering high-quality products at competitive prices by leveraging the power of collective purchasing.
"In a market facing variable global trade conditions, cost efficiency is more critical than ever. To help farmers maximise returns, our members collaborate through Associated Trading and the “Co-op Source” and “Agrichoice” Brand, ensuring cost-effective farm inputs and long-term sustainability," he added.
