Great day for Slievenamon ladies with away victory against County Tipperary at Dundrum

SLIEVENAMON GOLF CLUB
Busy times at the club
It was another busy week for us here at Slievenamon, where it has been all go.
The first round of the Vale Oil Open Competition was won by Declan McAssey on 41 points, with Pat Brett in second place on 38 and Andrew Frank in third on 38 points.
Meanwhile, our May Monthly Medal Competition was won by Eamonn English on 62, with Danny Keogh in second on 64 and Michael Ryan in third on 65. Robbie Walsh won the Gross on 77.
Monday’s Mixed Scramble Competition saw the usual enthusiastic turnout. This week’s competition saw Craig Spillane, Conor Dunlea and Nora Day take the laurels on 34.8. Anthony Wynne, Paula Spillane and Una Creed took second place on 36.5 while Michael A O’Meara, Ann Maxwell and Kyle Farrell secured third place on 40.4.
On Monday, our Seniors also enjoyed an away day in Dungarvan. The winners on 91 points were Team 13 - Jim O’Brien, Terry O’Brien and AN Other (as this was a two-man team, they were allowed to play alternative shots on alternative holes. Consequently, as first prize consisted of three vouchers, the third voucher was awarded after an independent draw to Colm Butler).
Second place on 89 points went to Team 11 - Michael Menrick, Sean Alyward and Sean O’Dea.
Third place on 84 points went to Team 8 - John Doyle, Davy Williams and Matty Tyne.
Our Ladies Sunday/Tuesday Competition was won by Anne Murphy on 40 points, with Ann O’Dea securing second place on 37 points.
Wednesday’s Senior Competition was won by Team 11 - Billy Phelan, Tony Condon and Declan Whyte, with a phenomenal score of 95 points. Team 4 - Danny Ryan, Pat Brett and Paddy Bambrick - took second with 83 points, while Team 5 - John Doyle, Robert Phelan and Jackie O’Dwyer, took third place.
Thursday’s Ladies Scramble was won by Mary Butler, Patricia Costello and Paula Spillane on 35 points.
Friday saw another enthusiastic turnout for the Vale Oil Competition - results to follow. We also had another very successful session with our new ladies in the Get into Golf Programme, and it is so delightful to see how enthusiastically the programme is being received.
There was heartbreak for our Mixed Foursomes team who put in a valiant effort against Tramore in Tramore on Sunday in the Flogas Mixed Foursome Competition but were beaten on the day. No one could fault the huge commitment of the team and their manager, and special thanks go to Paula Spillane and Michael W O’Meara, Kathleen Stanley and Brian Moore, Phil Whyte and Robbie Walsh, Marian Power and Denis Burke and Margo Condon and Padraig Lahart, who represented their club so well and so proudly.
There was better news for our Ladies Challenge Cup Team, who played Dundrum in Dundrum on Sunday and secured a very impressive victory. Anne Murphy, Vera Power, Breda Foley, Ber Ryan and Carmel Williams left everything on the course, and congratulations to them, their caddies and their manager, Teresa O’Brien.
