Great sadness as Frenchman who managed well-known Tipp factory passes away

There was great sadness around Thurles recently at the news of the passing of Mr. Emile Morvan, retired manager of the former GMX-Moulinex factory in Thurles.
He will be sadly missed by his former colleagues and friends in Thurles, where Emile lived and worked in Thurles from 1992 until 2001.
As manager of GMX-Moulinex, he very quickly endeared himself to the workforce who greatly appreciated his leadership style, his kindness, and his hands-on approach to the job.
He was genuinely proud of the factory, and close to his employees, and was devastated by the announcement of the closure of the factory in April 2001.
Since then, Emile and his wife, Annie, have been living in Cancale, Brittany where they enjoyed a very happy retirement at the heart of which were their children and grandchildren who have always been a source of great joy and consolation to them.
However, Emile did not become a stranger to Thurles and returned here every year in late October for five or six weeks to spend some time in County Tipperary, relaxing, visiting old friends, and enjoying some shooting and fishing.
He was very fond of Holycross and loved to stay there. He was a member of the Two-Mile Borris Gun Club, and Thurles Suir and Drish Anglers Association.
He will be sadly missed now by his loving wife, Annie, his sons David and Christophe, his daughter-in-law, Fiona, his grandchildren, all his family and by a large circle of friends in Cancale and Thurles.
Emile died on 29th March, aged 78 and a funeral ceremony was held in St Malo Crematorium on 5th April.
