In her 95th year, Noreen was a real lady of great substance

The death has occurred of Noreen Troy, St. Brigid's, Loughnafulla, Thurles.

Devoted wife of the late Joe Troy who died in March of last year, Noreen and Joe were very well known and highly regarded especially in Scór circle and in Irish music, song and dance. Accomplished dancers, they travelled the length and breadth of the county together and delighted in that whole scene in which they made so many life long friends. The famous Irish Nights at Thurles Sarsfields Social Centre were particular highlights for them.

Nee Kenneally of Killea, Noreen made her home with Joe in Loughnafulla, and there she lived until very recently when she was then  looked after with great care and tenderness by the staff of Fenor Hill Care Facility in Urlingford.

A real lady of great substance, Noreen ensured that the Troy home was a happy one and together with their daughter Margaret they ensured that the door was always open to to the visitor, the kettle was always on the boil, and there was always great company, conversation and chat. Margaret and her children Jack and Aisling greatly enhanced the homestead in recent times when they returned to Loughnafulla, with their lovely demeanour and easy manner making life so pleasant for Noreen in her final years. They will miss her greatly in the coming days especially - an empy chair at the Christmas table.placeholder image

Joe and Noreen were also very involved in the community, especially in Bóthar na Naomh Church, where Joe and his great friend, the late Ned Carr were offertory collectors. The Carr's and Troy's enjoyed many great occasions together with social dancing central to many of those memorable evenings.

Noreen's faith was also very strong throughout her life and despite her failing health in recent times, she continued to be close to her Maker, looking forward to the day when she would be reunited with her sweetheart Joe. She firmly believed that they would meet again and while her passing is a source of great sadness for her family, there is great satisfaction for them in knowing that Noreen and Joe are happy together again- inseparable once more.

In her 95th year Noreen passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Fennor Hill Care Facility, Urlingford. Predeceased by her devoted husband Joe, sister Lana and brother Seamus.
