Guest at this week's Thurles Farmer's Market to help children learn about food production

The market is on Saturday from 10am-12:30pm
Our Heritage Day on August 17 was well supported and enjoyed – we look forward to our second event on August 24.
The focus turns to Children and food production next week, with some printing skills as a bonus. Aoife Barrett and her Print Van Go team will be with us from 10am – 12.30pm.
Aoife has been working with a community garden in Clonoulty to help teach children how to grow food and live in a sustainable manner.
On Saturday, children are invited to ask questions about food and to print a message about food on a card, tote bag or tea towel (all materials are supplied).
There is no charge for children to participate. The event is titled – The Crop, the Shop and the Table.
We also hope to have some live animals on Saturday.
Thanks to all who played music last Saturday, thanks to Liam O’Dwyer, TJ Donnelly and Andy Fogarty for the Vintage displays and the volunteers from Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre for their attendance.
The Thurles Sugar Factory exhibit was terrific – thanks to Eddie Kenehan – Thurles certainly lost a significant employer and industry when the Sugar Factoryclosed in 1989, followed by the Erin Foods closure in 2008.
Thanks also to everyone who supported our raffle in aid of Suir Haven – tickets will be on sale on August 24, and with the raffle to take place on August 31.
Thanks to Michael Walshe for donating some Walking Sticks and to Richie Wright, Ger Skehan and TJ Donnelly for donating a total of three loads of solid fuel for the raffle.
As usual, we hope you will come to shop for the best in locally produced meats, vegetables, fruits, honey, juices and baked goods.
We have a location that allows indoor or outdoor trading every Saturday morning from 9am to 12.30pm and offers our customers plenty of free carparking – new traders welcome – call 087 270 1689.
The Café Chris Tea Coffee Truck is onsite seven days a week with plenty of outdoor seating available to sit and have a chat.
The Irish Caravan and Camping Club will be holding a rally in Thurles over the coming weekend based at the Thurles Greyhound Stadium – Fáilte go dit Durlas Eile.
