The community council in Mullinahone celebrated the 200th draw of the split the pot draw recently.
The lucky winner were Mai O’Brien €200 and Beatrice Direen was the lucky winner of the hamper.
The draw has proved extremely popular each week and has raised over €25,000, towards the community centre funds over the past number of years.
The money has been invested in modernising the community centre, such as the long awaited fire alarm system, signage and equipment.
We have been very fortunate for the last number of years to have the assistance and advice of our local independent councillor Kevin O’Meara, to help with obtaining various grants to develop the community centre.
Having a Mullinahone man in the council chamber is vital to the parish.
The results of his work can be seen all over the area. Many clubs and organisations have benefited from Kevin’s work on our behalf, from the GAA, Tidy Towns, Soccer Club, Community Council amongst others.
It is vital for the parish that Kevin will hold his seat in the forthcoming local election on June 7.
Kevin has worked hard for the area over the past five years and it would be great for the parish and area to continue to have a local voice in the council for the next number of years.
The 400 club draw will go ahead again this year.
We hope to hold the first two draws in July.
There will be a few changes for 2024 and the good news is that the prize money will increase. Membership will still remain at €20 for this year.
A lot of local people and businesses support our efforts on an ongoing basis, and your help is greatly appreciated.
