Historian opens Culture at the Castle series of events in Tipperary

Cahir Social and Historical Society
Cahir Social & Historical Society launched their annual 'Culture at the Castle' series with historian, broadcaster, Irish Times contributor and university professor Diarmaid Ferriter.
Diarmaid delivered a fantastic presentation on "Politics, Piety, Population and the Plough: Ireland in 1926". There was a full house on the night and the presentation was enjoyed by all. It was a great start to the 'Culture at the Castle' for 2026.
Next up on Friday, May 15, 2026 the Society is delighted to welcome Jim & Cáit Ryan from 'Jim o' the Mills', Upperchurch to the Great Hall in Cahir Castle. This promises to be a wonderful evening full of storytelling, traditional music and song as part of 'Culture at the Castle'. Admission is €15.
Seating is limited for all these events so early booking is advised. Booking is available by scanning the code on the advertising posters and see Cahir Social & Historical Facebook page for details.
Cahir Castle is a National Heritage Site and as such no food or drinks are permitted on the premises. We kindly ask all attendees to respectfully adhere to this.
