Historic World War I artillery returned to local Tipperary town centre

Templemore notes
Thursday last saw the return of Templemore’s two World War I artillery pieces to their home at the Town Hall.
The two 4.5 inch Howitzers were originally used by the British Army in the Great War, finally being decommissioned in 1973 where they had been used by the local 9th FA Battery 3rd FA Regiment.
The local 3FAR Association have plans to remember the 100 or so locals who gave their tomorrows for our today’s during WWI by erecting a memorial plinth with their names inscribed, a fitting tribute to their ultimate sacrifice.
