The Parish of Knockavilla and Donaskeigh came together last Friday night to celebrate the Golden Jubilee celebration of Fr Jim Egan’s ordination.
The Parish Pastoral Group and Knockavilla and Donaskeigh Community Councils welcomed Fr Jim’s family, his fellow priests, Archbishop Dr Kieran Ó’Reilly and many friends from outside the parish to a Mass of Thanksgiving in Knockavilla Church, where the liturgy was complimented by some wonderful music provided by the parish choir.
Proceedings then moved into Knockavilla Hall where hot food, teas and coffees were provided to the large crowd and musical entertainment supplied by John Donovan.
Making a presentation to Fr Jim Egan on behalf of the parish, John Browne acknowledged how Fr Jim has been part of every family occasion for the last 25 years in his ministry in the Parish.
He has helped so many through difficult times and celebrated in the good times.
This celebration for Fr Jim was the people’s way of saying thanks very much and everyone wished him all the best in his future ministry.
