Sunday the 12th of November saw Round 4 of the National Cyclocross League held in the TUS Campus Thurles. The event was hosted by Upperchurch Drombane Cycling Club, the event catered for over 265 competitors ranging in age from under six years to over 60 years. This is the first year UDCC have held the event in Thurles having held previous rounds in Drombane. The club are very grateful for the generosity of TUS Thurles in allowing use of their facility and to sponsors Ronayne Hardware and Francis Hogan of Stove Fit and of course the dedicated club members who prepared the course and helped on the day. It proved a popular fast paced course with all competitors providing the mix of grass, tarmac, a technical embankment and a small wooded area that CX (Cyclocross) enthusiasts love. A beautiful autumn day allowed spectators to enjoy CX racing at its best with competitors from 29 counties represented.Overall the day was a big success. Looking forward to seeing you on 30/12/2023 for Round 5 of the National League in Bellurgan, Co Louth hosted by Bellurgan CC and before that on 25/11/2023 for a round of the CX World Cup in the Sports Ireland Campus Abbottstown. This is a great opportunity to see our own Irish champions pitted against world class cyclists.
