Uisce Éireann says it's working hard to restore normal water supplies as quickly as possible

Uisce Éireann says it is working with Tipperary County Council to restore water supply as quickly as possible to over 30,000 impacted customers following a number of outages across the county.

Remedial works were delayed due to the industrial strike action arising from a dispute between the Unite trade union and seven local authorities, which took place between Wednesday, August 2 and Friday, August 4.

Uisce Éireann and Tipperary County Council say they were informed at 1pm this afternoon, Friday, that the industrial action in Tipperary had ceased and work immediately got underway to return supply to customers.

The outages continue to impact customers on the Galtee Regional, Ardfinnan Regional, Glenary (Clonmel) and Carrick-on-Suir (Linguan) Public Water Supply Schemes.

The outages have been caused by operational issues at each of the four water treatment plants. Alternative water supplies will remain in place until normal supply returns.

Customers, especially those on high elevations and on the extremities of the networks, are advised that it may be Sunday or Monday before normal water supply is restored. A further update will be provided tomorrow.

Precautionary boil water notices imposed on Crotty's Lake Public Water Supply, Glenary (Clonmel) Public Water Supply and Poulavanogue (Clonmel) Public Water Supply to protect public health during the industrial action remain in place until further notice.

Uisce Éireann says it is currently reviewing plant performance data over the last three days and will work to lift these notices as soon as it is safe to do so in consultation with the HSE.
