Jobs boost for Tipperary Town

Nephin Renewable Gas has established operations in the heart of Munster, in the Technology Park, located in Tipperary Town.
NRG will help design, construct, operate and maintain several anaerobic digestion renewable natural gas plants nationwide.
Since the team came together in July, their numbers have steadily grown and by October their full-time staff will number 10, with this number increasing to in excess of 100 as their plants are rolled out.
CENTRAL LOCATION
Tipperary Town has been selected by NRG for its centralised location which will allow access for strategic national roll out of the renewable gas plants.
TEAM
The NRG team is headed by its four directors, Dr Tony Yates, a leading expert in natural renewable gas and waste management, Michael Sweeney, co-director of NRGE, one of Ireland's leading Agri waste management businesses, Mr. Michael McEniry, a production engineer and expert in biogas production, and Graeme Lochhead, a structural and mechanical engineer, former lecturer, consultant and commercial director with decades of experience within the AD (Anaerobic Digestion) sector.
NETWORK
NRG will develop a network of anaerobic digestors, fuelling the production of biomethane (which is structurally and chemically the same as natural gas), that will power Ireland's transition towards energy independence and a sustainable low carbon economy through the green veins of a domestic biomethane industry.
HOMEGROWN
This homegrown business will create significant employment opportunities in rural Ireland, while also reducing the emissions footprint of Irish agriculture. Similar developments of similar sized member states across the EU have resulted in rural employment figures of direct and associated jobs of 76 per plant
PROJECT
It’s a real good news story for Tipperary Town and best wishes are extended to all associated with this project.
The announcement is a major economic boost to the town and is a vote of confidence in the area.
