Jockey makes poignant trip to Tipperary racecourse where his brother suffered fatal fall

Alan O'Sullivan will ride in the last race at Thurles this afternoon
Jockey Alan O’Sullivan will make a poignant journey to Tipperary today to ride in a race at Thurles, the racecourse where last month his brother Michael suffered a serious fall that led to his death ten days later.
Alan O’Sullivan will ride Georgie Green for trainer Daniel William O’Sullivan in the Ballagh INH Flat Race, the last race on the card at Thurles, at 5.35 this afternoon.
Alan paid a fitting tribute to his brother Michael by riding a treble of winners last weekend at point to point races ahead of the late jockey being honoured at next week’s Cheltenham Festival, with the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle to be run in his memory.
After suffering the fall at Thurles on February 6, the 24-year-old had been in an induced coma in intensive care at Cork University Hospital, where he was in an induced coma for ten days before he passed away.
He had ridden 95 winners in Ireland and Britain over his career, including 14 in Ireland and two in Britain this season.
