Four new SEN classes have been announced for Tipperary.

Schools in Ballyporeen, Nenagh and Tipperary Town are set to benefit from the announcement

Schools across Tipperary will benefit from four special education needs (SEN) classes for the coming school year, it has been confirmed.

This is on top of a further seven SEN classes that were announced for the county last week, and brings to 13 the total number of special education needs classes in County Tipperary.

The four schools to gain new SEN classes are Ballyporeen National School, Nenagh CBS Primary School, St Joseph's CBS in Nenagh and St Michael's JBS in Tipperary Town.

The four schools announced today (Friday, March 7) follows the announcement last week that Tipperary was to get seven additional SEN classes.

The schools that were included in the announcement last week were St Anne’s Secondary School and the Abbey school in Tipperary Town, Newport Secondary School, Thurles CBS, Patrician Presentation Secondary School in Fethard, St Joseph’s CBS Nenagh and St Mary’s Secondary School in Nenagh, St. Michael’s J.B.S. and Scoil Ailbe in Thurles.

Overall, Minister for Education Helen McEntee has announced 292 special education needs classes nationwide, with the intention of reaching the target of 400 SEN classes nationally.
