LATEST: Gardaí come to the rescue of woman en route to an appointment in Tipperary

The Garda Station in Portlaoise got a call early on Tuesday morning from a woman "in a bit of a pickle after getting a flat tyre while en route from the midlands to an appointment in Tipperary".

Probationer Garda, Darren Garvey, had just come on duty and was happy to call out to the link road in the town to safely change the tyre.

The woman and her passenger were back on their journey within 15mins.

Gardaí said: "We respond to all sorts each day - some more difficult tasks than others but we will always be here to help."
