Irish Water is asking customers who are in the Thurles area to input their Eircode to check if they are affected.

This follows an alert issued on Friday for the Thurles area, including Holycross, Thurles, Ballycahill, Bouladuff, Dovea, Borrisoleigh and Drom.

Irish Water says the surrounding areas may also be affected.

While some notices currently in place are related to the industrial action, the Thurles issue is one of disinfection.placeholder image

COUNCIL

The matter was raised at this morning’s sitting of the Thurles-Templemore Municipal District by Councillor Jim Ryan.

Cllr Ryan said that the information sent out only included some specific areas and may not have included them all.

Cllr Hanafin clarified that there is a map on the website, and people living in the Thurles area can input their Eircode to see if they are affected.

However, Cllr Ryan pointed out that some people may look at the areas listed, not see their own and think they are safe.

It was unclear, for instance if Two-Mile-Borris was included in the notice.

Tipperarylive reached out to Irish Water for clarification, and neither Two-Mile-Borris nor Littleton are affected by the boil notice as both are on a different system.

Cllr Ryan also asked if there was an update on a resolution.

Director for Services Eamon Lonergan said there wasn’t, and the decision to lift the notice was between Irish Water and the HSE.

Irish Water told Tipperarylive that they are working to resolve the issue as quickly as it is safe to do so.
