Little Veronica helps Templemore with its big Christmas lights switch-on

T’was the ninth of December before Christmas and Templemore was stirring up a special atmosphere.
Our own little Christmas Star, Veronica Svistelnik from Ukraine, switched on the Christmas lights sending a message of hope, peace and joy to all.
Santa and his “Elf on a Quad Bike” Claire O’Connor, made an appearance bringing merriment to the children.
DJ Eoin Fitzpatrick got us all in a festive mood and the Fairytale of New York rang out across the square wishing all our dreams come through.
Laura O’Connor of Peter’s Fruit and Veg was a jolly MC, keeping the party going and leading the countdown.
Aoife Fogarty's “Bean Around” horsebox kept us in fodder with treats and hot chocolate.
Liz’s and One 19’s beautifully decorated cafe’s provided welcome warmth for those whose faces were all a glow.
Awards on the night for their window displays went to Mocklers Pharmacy, Murphy’s Pharmacy and Core Hair and Beauty Salon.
Vouchers for local businesses worth €20 were handed out to encourage shopping locally.
There was something of a scene from a Christmas Carol to see all the local businesses lit up on the square and a community out enjoying themselves.
A special thanks to all involved and the support of three wise men - Noel Coonan, Eddie Moran and Michael Smith.
Well done also to Ellen Cahill and Harry Adlum who won the best Christmas jumper prizes.
And what about Dougal Fogarty who won the best dressed dog prize. Well done to his owner, and wardrobe designer, Aine Fogarty.
