Local memorial group congratulate volunteers at Tipperary International Peace Awards
Martin Quinn, Guy Jones, and John Shanahan of the Doctors Without Borders (MSF) were recognised
On Saturday, September 21 Dr Michael Casey Fellow of the Irish State and Mr John Wort attended the 2023 Tipperary International Peace Awards in Ballykisteen, Limerick Junction.
On behalf of the Durlas Eile Eliogarty Memorial Committee, I would like to congratulate Mr Martin Quinn, Mr Guy Jones, and Mr John Shanahan for recognition of the Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Dr Jarvid Ablelmonwm who accepted the award on behalf of his fellow Volunteers.
A great job of compassion and mercy and a very dangerous job.
I had the opportunity after the award ceremony to talk to Dr Jarvid and some of his team's young men who put their lives at risk in the line of duty to help others around the troubled parts of the world.
On behalf of the Durlas Eile Eliogarty Memorial Committee, I congratulate all of them for their loyalty and bravery in helping people who need help because of starvation and War. Myself and Dr Michael met some very interesting and very nice young men from Africa.
Our conversation on man's inhumanity to man all over the troubled countries. Our situation at home is the many people who have had to come here to be safe.
Some of those Yong men have made Ireland their home and are now proud to call Ireland their country and to have an input in whatever it takes them to be a better person and get on with their fellow countrymen and women. They were very interested and impressed with what Dr Michael and I ad to say about our investment in St Mary’s International Garden of Remembrance and what it stands for Peace Remembrance and Reconciliation.
It was their first time down in Tipperary loved the countryside and the people. I did invite them down for our Remembrance Sunday Ceremonies on November 10 2024. Well done again to Martin and his Committee for a wonderful afternoon of acknowledgement to a special organisation of volunteers of mercy.
