Long delays for motorists on approach to Carrick-on-Suir

Dissatisfaction with the traffic management measures in operation as part of works on the N24 approach roads to Carrick-on-Suir has been raised. Cllr Kieran Bourke raised the issue at a meeting of the Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District.

LONG DELAYS

The Fianna Fáil councillor told members and officials of the long delays motorists were experiencing as they approached the town from Clonmel.

Cllr Bourke said he had experienced long delays himself approaching from Clonmel. He told of being caught in traffic at the lights with a journey of what would normally be only a few minutes taking him 45 minutes.

Cllr Bourke said the traffic management measures implemented by GLAS Engineering “left a lot to be desired”.

ACCESS

He said that work was being carried out by the firm on the provision of bus stops.

Cllr Bourke said less disruption would be caused if the company used Healy Park as an access and not the N24 for the work involved.
