Man who caused €850 worth of damage to Tipperary hotel bedroom must pay compensation

A man who went on a rampage in a Tipperary hotel has been told by Nenagh District Court that payment of compensation will have a bearing on his sentencing.
Jason Cannon of Allenwood South, Naas, county Kildare, pleaded to causing €850 worth of damage to a room in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh, on March 10, 2022.
The court heard that a female had booked into the hotel and a complaint was made to the night manager.
It was discovered that Mr Cannon smashed the television set in the room, the carpet was stained, the headboard on the bed was damaged as were two bedside lamps.
The female had nothing to do with causing the damage, the court was told.
Mr Cannon’s barrister told the court that his client was “very embarrassed” by the situation.
Mr Cannon had been in a “grieving situation” as his father had died when it happened and he apologised for his actions.
Judge Elizabeth MacGrath ordered Mr Cannon to have full compensation of €850 before the court on September 15, saying that would have a bearing on her decision.
