With the election over and the counting done, we now have a new Thurles-Templemore Municipal District Council. The Thurles-Templemore Municipal District Council is made up of nine councillors from the Roscrea-Templemore and Thurles LEAs as well as local authority officials. Those officials include, District Manager Mark Connolly, District Administrator Sharon Scully and District Engineer Thomas Duffy The Thurles LEA has one more seat than Roscrea-Templemore, which means there is one more Thurles councillor than in the other two areas. One of the nine councillors will be elected by the district council to the role of Cathaoirleach or Chairperson. But that won't be decided until they meet. The district council meet monthly in the Thurles council offices pictured above.
