Memorial half-marathon to take place in local Tipperary village

The Galtee Walking Club will host the event
The Galtee Walking Club Committee has announced that after a brief absence, the annual Slievenamuck Half Marathon will return on Sunday, April 13.
In keeping with tradition, the event will be held on Palm Sunday.
This year marks a special year for this event, as the group remembers the man who founded the event, Rody Tierney.
Rody is one of the founding members of the Galtee Walking Club, and it is his hard work throughout the years that leaves the club in the strong position it is in today.
Rody passed away in January of this year, and his passing left a hole within the Galtee Walking Club.
To remember Rody, the club wanted to revive this wonderful event that Rody cared so deeply for.
The event will be open to members and guests with places limited available.
To express interest in taking part, contact the group, Pat Boland, Breege Doherty, or any committee member.
To make it an event that everyone can be involved in, the organisers will offer both a 10 kilometre loop and a 5 kilometre loop on the day also.
Regristration for the Half Marathon will be 9am.
Regristration for the 10km will be 10:30am.
Regristration for the 5km will be 11:30am.
