Multiple performances from Tipperary Dance set for Clonmel Arts Festival

Tipperary Dance will be presenting two productions at Clonmel Junction Arts Festival.
Tipperary Dance will be presenting two productions at Clonmel Junction Arts Festival this year: Turnstile on Saturday 29th June, and Tempo Rubato on Sunday 30th June, both at STAC Chapel in Clonmel.
Turnstile is a live performance and visual arts installation commissioned by Tipperary Museum of Hidden History to commemorate Bloody Sunday. Dancers Robyn Byrne and Eleni Roberts Kazouri perform within a glass cabinet and video projections, accompanied by music derived from forensic reports. These elements are woven together by directors Jazmin Chiodi and Alexandre Iseli to create a reflection on our ability to find resilience after violence, moving from historic memory to imagine present-day possibilities. This will be the first live performance of this work, which was created during the pandemic.
A Greek Irish collaboration, Tempo Rubato is a new dance trio choreographed by Alexandre Iseli working with Athens-based Polina Kremasta. Performed by Robyn Byrne, Rocio Dominguez, both former associate artists at Tipperary Dance, and Eleni Roberts Kazouri, Tempo Rubato is a search for sanity in a world whose rhythms – social, environmental, geopolitical - are being massively and multiply disrupted. With the three female dancers at its heart, the work develops a common flow and pulse, creating a shared venture that doesn’t sacrifice individuality. Tempo Rubato was developed in close collaboration with a team from diverse artforms and backgrounds, in residency both in Greece and at Ballyglass Country House.
Tipperary Dance’s Alexandre Iseli says, “We’re really looking forward to presenting the first live performance of Turnstile, and the re-staging of Tempo Rubato, to audiences at this year’s Clonmel Junction Arts Festival. These are two of the works we’ve created most recently at Tipperary Dance, working with Irish and international dance artists and musicians to suggest creative ways of moving forward from the challenges we are facing, now and in the future.”
