The Limerick man was disqualified for driving without insurance

A Limerick man has been disqualified from driving for two years following a single-car collision in Toomevara.

Martin Casey (23) of 61 Upper Carey Road, Limerick, was charged with driving without a licence, not having insurance and two counts of failure to produce a licence, one for a learner’s permit.

Sergeant Regina McCarthy of Nenagh Garda Station told Nenagh District court that on June 8, 2023, gardai attended the scene of a single-car collision on the M7 Clash Toomevara.

The guard asked the driver of the black Jaguar for his licence, but he did not have it with him.

The driver was asked to produce the licence to his local garda station within ten days.

However, the time lapsed, and the driver did not produce the licence. The court heard the defendant had 21 previous convictions.

Judge Marie Keane disqualified him from driving for two years and fined him €250 for driving with no insurance.

She imposed a further fine of €100 for driving without a licence and took the charge of failure to produce a licence and another charge of failure to produce a learner’s licence into consideration.
