New social media page created for Thurles Bypass campaign

The admin says watch the space for new updates in the coming weeks
A new Facebook page has been created for a campaign to lobby the Government to include the Thurles Bypass project in the National Development Plan.
The Bypass for Thurles page was set up this week and the admin posted this on Wednesday:
"Thanks to everyone who has followed the campaign page so far. This page will provide updates on the Bypass For Thurles campaign.
The next few months represent a crucial period for the Thurles Bypass project with an eagerly anticipated review of the National Development Plan and a General Election due to take place.
"We need to have the unequivocal support of our public representatives on this issue and to have our voices heard by the decision-makers at national level.
"Please like and share this page with your family & friends to build support around the campaign. The campaign group is open to everyone, so if you would like to get involved please contact the page.
"Stay tuned for further announcements in the coming weeks."
BYPASS
The Thurles Bypass is a proposed plan, that local representatives say will ease congestion in Thurles.
While a feasibility study was carried out in 2011, the project is not currently on the National Development Plan.
This means funding cannot be allocated to the project, stalling it.
Last year councillors and council officials met with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
Cllr Sean Ryan said at the December sitting of Thurles-Templemore Municipal District Council that TII were "supportive" of the project but that it had to be on the NDP to receive funding.
But, an upcoming review of the plan might provide an opportunity for the project's inclusion.
A petition was set up in January this year by Dan Harty but so, far has only received 213 signatures.
